Corn (Zea mays subsp. mays), including the ‘Jackpot’ variety, originated in **Mexico**. More specifically, the Balsas River valley in southwestern Mexico is considered the birthplace of corn.

While ‘Jackpot’ is a modern hybrid variety, its genetic ancestry traces back to this region.
