* 1-1/2 cups Rice – washed
* 2 Onion – thinly sliced
* 2 Cardamom (Elaichi) Pods/Seeds
* 2 cloves Cloves (Laung)
* inch Cinnamon Stick (Dalchini)
* Salt – to taste
* 1 tablespoon Ghee

1. in a pressure cooker, heat ghee on medium flame, to this add the whole spices – cinnamon, cloves, cardamom.
2. Once the spices begin to sizzle, add the sliced onions and saute till it turns into a deep brown caramelised colour.
3. This will take about 10 minutes on medium heat.
4. Once the onions have caramelised, add the washed and drained rice along with 3 cups of water, salt and close the pressure cooker.
5. Pressure cook the Vagharela Chawal for 3 whistles and turn off the heat.
6. Allow the pressure to release naturally.
